Let’s get started!

1 - Gather your materials and tools

• Fabric; we recommend knit or woven fabrics such as Linen, Sateen, Challis, Crepe or Ponte knit. We chose Linen. See the image below for quantities.

• Invisible zipper; up to 2/3 yards

• 1/4 inch wide elastic; up to 2/3 yards

• Thread

2 - Print and cut

3 - Cut out the fabric pieces Learn how >

Seam and hem allowances are already included.

4 - Label your pieces

For clarity, we made the wrong side of our fabric darker.

5 - Finish the facings

• Use 1/8 inch hem allowance

• We chose an overcast stitch What should I choose?

6 - Sew the bodice seams

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

7 - Attach the facings

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

8 - Sew the shoulder seams

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

9 - Attach the sleeves

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

10 - Sew the skirt panel seams

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

11 - Attach the skirt panels

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

12 - Attach the skirt panels

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

13 - Sew the side seams

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

14 - Sew the back seam

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

15 - Attach the invisible zipper

• Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

• We chose a straight stitch

16 - Hem the sleeves

• Use 3/4 inch hem allowance

• We chose a double-fold hem and finished it with a straight stitch

17 - Insert the elastics

18 - Hem the bottom

• Use 3/4 inch hem allowance

• We chose a single-fold hem and finished it with a straight stitch

19 - Do a little dance!

Be a pro! Trim any excess thread and allowances, then, give it a good iron.
