  • Fabric; we recommend knit or woven fabrics such as Sateen, Challis, Crepe, Linen or Ponte knit. We chose Sateen. See the images below for quantities.

  • Invisible Zipper: up to 1/2 yard

2 - Print and cut

3 - Cut out the fabric pieces Learn how >

Seam and hem allowances are already included.

 

4 - Label your pieces

For clarity, we made the wrong side of our fabric darker.

 

5 - Finish the facings

 

6 - Sew the bodice seams

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

7 - Attach the facings

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

8 - Attach the waistbands

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

9 - Sew the shoulder seams

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

10 - Attach the ruffles

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

11 - Attach the sleeves

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

12 - sew the dart seams

  • We chose a straight stitch

 

13 - Attach the skirt panel

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

14 - Attach the skirt panels

15 - Sew the side seams

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

16 - Sew the back seams

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

17 - Hem the slits

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

18 - Finish the slit

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a straight stitch

 

19 - Attach the invisible zipper

  • Use 1/2 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a straight stitch

 

20 - Hem the sleeves

  • Use 3/4 inch hem allowance

  • We chose a single-fold hem and finished it with a straight stitch

 

21 - Hem the bottom

  • Use 1 & 1/2 inch hem allowance

  • We chose a double-fold hem and finished it with a straight stitch

 

22 - Do a little dance!

Be a pro! Trim any excess thread and allowances, then, give it a good iron.
