Let’s get started!

1 - Pick up your materials and tools

  • Fabric; we recommend using stretch crepe, stretch satin, stretch velvet, stretch georgette, knits, or similar fabrics. We chose stretch crepe. See the image below for quantities.

2 - Print and cut

There are 3 printing options:

Seam and hem allowances are already included.

 

4 - Label your pieces

For clarity, we made the wrong side of our fabric darker.

 

5 - Sew the dart seams

  • We chose to mark the dart point 2" from the notches towards the apex point; finish with a straight stitch.

 

6 - Sew the front panel seam

  • Use 3/8 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch and finished it with an overcast stitch

 

7 - Sew the side seams

  • Use 3/8 inch seam allowance

  • We chose a plain seam with a straight stitch

 

8 - Create the neckline binding

  • Use 3/8 inch seam allowance

 

9 - Attach the neckline binding

  • We chose double-needle topstitch

 

10 - Create the armhole binding

  • Use 3/8 inch seam allowance

 

11 - Attach the armhole binding

  • We chose double-needle topstitch

 

12 - Hem the slits

  • Use 3/8 inch hem allowance

  • We chose a single-fold hem and finished it with a straight stitch

 

13 - Hem the bottom

  • Use 3/4 inch hem allowance

  • We chose a single-fold hem and finished it with a straight stitch

 

14 - Do a little dance!

Be a pro! Trim any excess thread and allowances, then, give it a good iron.
