Cut on Fold Example
To cut this piece:
1. Fold your fabric in half lengthways with the right sides together
2. Position the paper piece so that the arrow tips are along the fold of the fabric
3. Use pins or weights to temporarily hold the paper piece in position on the fabric
4. Cut the fabric following the outline of the paper piece
5. Separate the fabric from the paper piece
Grainline Example
To cut this piece:
1. Position the paper piece so that the arrow tips run parallel with the fabric grain
2. Use pins or weights to temporarily hold the paper piece in position on the fabric
3. Cut the fabric following the outline of the paper piece
4. Separate the fabric from the paper piece
Mirrored Example
To cut this piece:
1. Position the paper piece so that the arrow tips run parallel with the fabric grain
2. Use pins or weights to temporarily hold the paper piece in position on the fabric
3. Cut the fabric following the outline of the paper piece
4. Separate the fabric from the paper piece
5. Flip the paper piece over to the opposite side and repeat steps 1-4
Notch Example
To cut notches:
1. Once the piece has been cut out of fabric, reposition the paper piece over the fabric piece and align the edges.
2. Use pins or weights to temporarily hold the paper piece in position on the fabric
3. Make a small cut into the fabric following the notch lines.
